This was a major school improvement project at Chiltern Primary School in Hampshire which transformed an ageing primary school into a learning environment suited to 21st century learning. The project comprised complete renewal of the external windows doors and wall cladding of the two-storey SCOLA building, including thermal upgrading and recovering of the roof.
The project was undertaken with the school in normal operation and was completed on budget and within a tight timescale. We undertook the role of lead consultant quantity surveyor contract administrator architectural, mechanical and electrical services design. In addition, asbestos services and structural engineering services were outsourced which we monitored as part of a lead consultant role
The works included structural alterations, redesigning external facades, thermal upgrading, rationalising internal areas and mechanical and electrical services systems to improve the building environment. The work required Planning and Building Regulations approvals, which we obtained for the client and also provided CDM services.
We provided a full range of professional consultancy services for the £1.3m project. The main contractor Dawnus went on to win a gold award from Considerate Constructors Scheme.
